Car rental in Milan
Useful for reaching the lakes or rural Lombardy, unnecessary — if not counterproductive — inside the city centre's restricted traffic zone.
When it's worth it
For reaching Lake Como, Lake Maggiore or rural Lombardy with flexible timing. Pick-up is best arranged at a station (Centrale or Garibaldi) or directly at the airport, never in the Duomo area.
When it's not
For staying in the city: the metro, trams and walking cover the whole centre better than a car, with no worries about Area C or parking.
